The Showtime Academy began in 1997 when Darren and Tony opened their first class at the BBC Television Centre in Elstree, Hertfordshire. A year later classes in Surrey, Essex, Norfolk & Suffolk were all thriving.

Wanting to concentrate on their core business of producing West End shows, Star EFX decided in 2004 to sell off the Academies, and realising that the then Shepperton Academy was one of the Academies ‘flagship’ locations, Darren decided to personally take over the running of the classes.

The focus has been on keeping the standards higher than their competitors and membership levels strong, whilst costs have been maintained at affordable rates, enabling  parents to sustain their children’s attendance over long periods.

With huge successes and increasing waiting lists the Showtime Academy soon held an enviable reputation amongst other theatre schools in the area. In September 2008 Darren relocated the Academy to Sunbury on Thames, where the facilities were bigger, brighter and far better to cope with expansion plans.

In 2011, and following Darren’s own move to Berkshire, a new Academy has been launched in Finchampstead, Wokingham. The facilities at the FBC Centre are second to none, and students can look forward to some great shows ahead!
